Pilsen Tour

We start with a history/cultural walking tour of the neighborhood led by our host, Alejandro Morales of The Resurrection Project. Pilsner Beer takes its name from this area of Bohemia whose citizens first settled this neighborhood on the Near West Side. Currently home to a vibrant Mexican American Neighborhood and the National Museum of Mexican Art, all the issues of immigration, gentrification, environmental health and affordable housing are part of the fabric of life in this community. And…the plethora of fixed geared bikes is eveidence that it’s being invaded by the hipsters. Tour includes lunch and then a tour of the east end galleries for the annual gallery walk. As an option, cap off the evening with the annual banquet for our partner ministry, San Jose Obrero Mission, at the National Museum of Mexican Art. Tour starts at 9:15 AM at 1818 S. Paulina.
