Worship Assistants

All worship assistants (nursery, greeter, refreshments) are asked to fulfill assigned tasks on requested days or find replacements.  Thank you.

Nursery Attendants (2):

  1. Arrive at church at least 10 minutes before church starts
  2. Fill out nametag
  3. Report to nursery room
  4. Introduce yourself to any parents that you are not familiar with
  5. Get all pertinent information on all children (example; dietary, allergies, etc.)
  6. Remain in nursery until all children are picked up
  7. Room should be left as we found it.  Toys and trash picked up. Wipe boards erased.

NOTE: The intention of nursery is to provide a place to stay for young children (under the age of 5) for the entire service. Currently at Loop Church many parents will keep children with them until the Children's Dismissal during the service and pick them up again at the time of Communion.  If there are no children in the nursery during parts or all of the service, nursery attendants are free to discreetly rejoin the worship service.  If you do so, please be available to return to nursery should the need arise (eg. crying baby, late arrivals).

Greeters (2):

  1. Look for the weekly e-mail containing the follow-up report and greeter tips.  Try to identify and greet the follow-up folks on Sunday AM.
  2. Arrive at church at least 15 minutes before church starts.  Fill out and wear name tag.  There are yellow 'reserved seating' for greeters.  Put these on seats near the west exit so you can enter and leave worship unobtrusively.
  3. One greeter is stationed at the Dearborn Street entrance door, either outside or in the vestibule.  This greeter should remain here until 10:15.  Direct visitors through the gym, to the greeter at the book cart / bulletin table.  At 10:15 close the inner vestibule door and join worship
  4. The second greeter is stationed at at the book cart / bulletin table.  Ask folks to fill in a name tag.  If accompanied by children, give them the location of nursery / Little Lambs (around the corner from the bulletin table).  Make sure visitors take a liturgy and song book(s). To facilitate this, it is best to make stacks of the necessary books, worship liturgy, and communion liturgy and hand a complete package to every one or two worshipers. Remain greeting until 15 minutes into the service.
  5. After 10:15, close (and lock) the inner vestibule door.  During the remainder of the service, listen for the doorbell and go open the door for latecomers.
  6. Optional: If you are comfortable doing it, please follow up with any newcomers following the service.  You are excused from doing sanctuary take-down to do so.

Refreshments (2):

  1. Bring refreshments for total of approximately 60 people
  2. Refreshments should include something to eat AND a kind of juice (1 gallon)
  3. Before worship, set up team should bring container of refreshments supplies to kitchen. If not there, retrieve it from storage room.
  4. Before (or during) worship start coffee pot.  32-cup pot is stored on top of refrigerator. Coffee and scoop are in container.  One large scoop for each 8 cups of coffee.
  5. Set out cups, sugar, cream, stirrers, napkins on serving shelf
  6. At end of service put coffee pot out on serving shelf.
  7. You need to clean up. Pack up cups, sugar, tablecloth, etc. and put into black box
    1. Rinse the coffee pot(s)
    2. The black box is stored in the Loop storage closet
    3. Coffee pot is stored on top of the refrigerator
